The Chancellor of IAIN Ternate is Optimistic that the Ternate Language Translation of the Koran will be completed according to target
TERNATE – Chancellor of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ternate, North Maluku, Prof Dr Radjiman Ismail, M.Pd emphasized that the process of translating the Koran using Ternate language will be completed according to the predetermined target.
He said that so far the translation team had worked well, so that the progress of translating the Koran had shown satisfactory results. The translation of the Koran into Ternate, he continued, was a collaboration carried out by the Research and Development Center for Lectures, Religious Treasures and Organizational Management (LKKMO) Research and Development and Training, Ministry of Religion with IAIN Ternate.
So, according to him, from this collaboration, it was agreed to translate the Koran using the Ternate regional language.
"The translation team worked quite well in accordance with the agreed targets," said Radjiman, after attending a discussion event on the Ternate language translation of the Koran at the Safirna Golden Hotel Ternate, Wednesday (23/10/2024) evening.
"We would like to express our gratitude to the Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Religion, for choosing IAIN Ternate to carry out translations of the Koran into regional languages," he continued.
Furthermore, Radjiman revealed that North Maluku has various tribes and languages, therefore translating the Koran into Ternate is the first step as a trigger for translating the Koran into other regional languages in North Maluku.
"This translation of the Koran using Ternate is the first monumental work of IAIN Ternate, and it is possible that in the future there will be translations of the Koran using other regional languages in North Maluku," he said
Gam Madodoto (Professor, ed.) of the Sultanate of Ternate said that when the translation of the Koran into Ternate language is complete, digitalization will be carried out, in order to make it easier for people to access and study the Koran.
Apart from that, his party will coordinate with the North Maluku provincial government, as well as districts and cities, to reproduce the translation of the Koran and distribute it to every school and mosque.
"Because, by using the area where people read the Koran, they can easily understand the translation of each verse or content of the Koran," he said.
The former Dean of the Ternate Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (IAIN) added that the Ternate language translation of the Koran, apart from making it easier for people to learn, according to him, is part of preserving local culture, especially Ternate culture.
"Because the regional language is the mother tongue, so it is easier for people to hear the regional language in the translation of the Koran. "Apart from that, by using regional languages, people reading the Koran can easily understand the translation of each verse or content of the Koran," he concluded
