Ternate language translation of the Koran is included in the priority scale for publication, this is the explanation from the Head of the Ministry of Religion's Literacy Research and Development Center
TERNATE – After successfully publishing 28 translations of the Koran in regional languages, the Research and Development Center for Lectures, Religious Treasures, and Organizational Management of the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, is again targeting to publish four translations of the Koran in regional languages.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Research and Development Center for Lectures, Prof Dr HM Isom, M.Ag, when opening the discussion of the Ternate language translation of the Koran, which took place at the Safirna Golden Hotel Ternate, Wednesday (23/10/2024) evening.
"In 2024, we will process four Korans, namely the Koran translations from Ternate, Kupang, Palangkaraya and Betawi," he explained.
He explained that translating the Koran into regional languages is a mandate from Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning the promotion of culture. Apart from that, according to him, translating the Koran is also an inseparable part of cultural jihad and preserving regional languages.
For this reason, he continued, the Ministry of Religion's Literacy Research and Development Center has two important agendas as a priority scale, namely the promotion of culture, as well as grounding the Koran, so that the Koran can be understood by native language speakers in each region.
"We want the Koran to have a translation process into regional languages, so that speakers who use their mother tongue can easily understand, appreciate and at the same time be able to practice the content and values in the Koran," he explained.
"Language is a reflection of our feelings, intentions and creativity, because as a culture it is reflected in language. "Well, cultural advancement, in this case language preservation, is a necessity," he continued
He revealed, of the 28 translations of the Koran in regional languages, to date, his party has digitized 10 regional languages in the Play Store application.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to digitize 18 translated Korans, so that it will be easier for people to access and study them.
"It can be downloaded via the Play Store with the keyword (keywords, ed) Quran Kemenag," he said
Meanwhile, the head of the team for translating the Koran into Ternate, Dr Sahjad M Aksan, M.Phil, said that his party invited a number of important figures to discuss the Ternate language translation of the Koran, with the aim of asking for input regarding the Al-Quran translation process.
"They were invited as resource persons to dissect the translation of the Koran that had been carried out by the translation team," he said
Sahjad said that in the activity of translating the Koran into Ternate, his party brought together a number of community leaders from a number of sub-districts in the city of Ternate, such as from the sub-districts of Togafo, Takome, Tubo, Dufa-Dufa, as well as community leaders on Hiri Island.
"We revised the translation team and included a number, including Rafli Marwan, S.Pd., M.Pd from Hiri Island, Ardian H Harun, S.Pd (Takome), Sucipto, S.H (Dufa-Dufa), Junaidi Abas, S .Pd (Togafo), as well as IT staff, Asmarani Pratama Y Hadad, S.Kom," he said
The former Deputy Chancellor of IAIN Ternate for Student Affairs and Cooperation for the 2014-2018 period) ensured that his party was making every effort to ensure that the translation of the Koran into Ternate was completed according to the targets set by the Ministry of Religion's Lecture Research and Development Center.
Even so, according to him, translating the Koran into regional languages must be done carefully, to avoid mistakes. Because the translation carried out did not use Arabic script, but used Indonesian script in Ternate.
“Insha Allah, we will speed it up, because the sentences used in each surah are almost exactly the same. "So, with these similarities, we believe it will make it easier for us to carry out translations of the last 15 juz," he concluded.
