The Ministry of Religion's Lecture Research and Development Center Expresses Appreciation for the Performance of the Ternate Language Al-Quran Translation Team
TERNATE – Coordinator of the translation of the Koran into regional languages at the Research and Development Center for Lectures, Religious Treasures, and Organizational Management of the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Nurrahmah expressed his appreciation to the team translating the Koran into Ternate.
He said that the translation team worked optimally, because they had completed the translation of more than 14 juz. Therefore, he assessed that with one month remaining, the translation team would be able to complete their work.
"We give our appreciation to the Ternate language Al-Quran translation team, because they are working according to the targets we have given, God willing, by the end of November they will be able to complete the translation of the Koran," said Nurrahmah, after closing the discussion of the Ternate-language translated Al-Quran at the Safirna Golden Hotel Ternate, Thursday (24/10/2024) evening.
He admitted that the translation team worked well, because they received maximum support from the Chancellor of IAIN Ternate. For this reason, the target given by the Ministry of Religion's Lecture Research and Development Center, he said, would be maximized by the translation team.
"I am very optimistic that the translation of the Koran will be completed on time, because the work of the translation team has full support from the chancellor, as well as enthusiasm and enthusiasm from the translation team to commit to completing their task," he said
Furthermore, the woman from Betawi explained that translating the Koran into regional languages often encounters obstacles, because not all regions have the correct equivalent words according to the text of the Koran.
So in translating the Koran into regional languages, he said, if you encounter these obstacles, the solution is to return to the original text to ensure that there is no shift in meaning.
Even so, he admitted that he was quite proud of the team translating the Koran into Ternate, because they carried the enthusiasm to be able to complete the translation of the Koran in order to bring pride to the people of Ternate.
"This is the work of civilization and this is the proud work of the people of Ternate city," he said
He added, in translating the Koran into regional languages, his party determined a number of stages so that they could publish the work presented by the translation team.
"The first stage is that we focus on completing the translation into regional languages, then in the second stage we will validate the results of the translation, in the third stage we carry out tashih (checking the correctness, ed) of the text of the Koran, in the fourth stage, we digitize the translation of the Koran which can be accessed via a digital platform, then the next stage is that we will carry out a public test, then publish it and launch it.
"The launching of the Ternate language translation of the Koran will be carried out in Ternate, so hopefully whatever the story, whatever the difficulties, this translation program will be completed and the people of Ternate will be proud," he explained.
Responding to the positive response given by the coordinator of the translation of the Koran in regional languages at the Literacy Research and Development Center, Religious Treasures, and the Organizational Management of the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion, the Chancellor of IAIN Ternate, Prof Dr Radjiman Ismail, M.Pd, hopes that the translation team can maximize the time determined by the Lektur Research and Development Center.
"I will remain together with the translation team, and we will try as hard as possible, so that in November 2024, the work of translating the Koran into Ternate can be completed," admitted Radjiman, adding that he would add native Ternate speakers in order to accelerate do the translation.
"Because this is a monumental work, whatever happens, efforts must be made so that the translation can be completed according to the predetermined target," he added.
Radjiman explained that the work of translating the Koran into regional languages, apart from recording history and continuing to be remembered by every generation, on the other hand is a charity for the translation team.
On that basis, he continues to provide maximum support, so that this monumental work can be completed according to the targets given by the Lecture Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Religion.
"I am optimistic, because the team has completed the translation of the long surah, so with the remaining time of this month they can complete their work," he said
Meanwhile, the head of the team translating the Koran into Ternate, Dr Sahjad M Aksan, M.Phil, said that his team had worked for three months and completed more than 14 juz.
He admitted that the process of translating the Koran into regional languages was often faced with obstacles, such as the words chosen had to be completely appropriate so as not to be misinterpreted.
"We examined the word "really" in detail, to see if it matches the equivalent word in Ternate, as well as other words," he said.
Sahjad explained, after holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for three days, the obstacles experienced regarding the equivalent of Ternate language words began to come to light, because the speakers presented were native Ternate speakers.
Thus, the equivalent standard words used in translating the Koran have been jointly agreed upon by the translation team and Ternate language speakers.
For this reason, Sahjad ensured that the time determined by the Research and Development Center for Lectures, Religious Treasures, and the Organizational Management of the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion, would be accommodated by the translation team.
Apart from that, he admitted that the translation team would add to the composition of speakers, in order to quickly complete the translation of the Ternate language Koran according to the target.
"And the target given by the Lecture Research and Development Center, we are still trying to make this translation activity even more intensive," explained the Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, IAIN Ternate.
"And we are trying hard to present this work in accordance with the expectations of the Lecture Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Religion and the Chancellor of IAIN Ternate," he concluded. (*)
