Greeting Thousands of Confucians, Minister of Religion Calls for Message of Togetherness
Jakarta --- The Ministry of Religion is committed to providing the best service to all religious communities, including Confucianists. This was expressed by Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar when greeting thousands of Confucianists at the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religion Office, Jakarta.
The Minister of Religion said that the principle of equality has been the basis of national life since the founding of Indonesia. This is what he called a message of togetherness.
"In Indonesia, we do not recognize the terms majority and minority. We also do not recognize the most special or dominant religion in this Republic," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin, Wednesday (11/20/2024) which was greeted by the cheers of the participants present.
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin also invited the Confucianists who attended the event to unite despite their differences.
"Forget our religious differences, our ethnic differences, even our differences in beliefs. What is important is that we live under the big umbrella of the Republic of Indonesia. This is Indonesia, which does not discriminate against any of its citizens, no matter how small," said Nasaruddin Umar.
He also emphasized that the government pays attention to all religious communities without exception.
“The government’s attention to Confucian citizens is very great. From day to day, from month to month, from year to year, the quantity of government assistance and cooperation with Confucianism continues to grow,” said the Minister of Religion.
“Alhamdulillah, the development of government attention to Confucianism in the Ministry of Religion is extraordinary. There is the construction of Confucian religious colleges, assistance for places of worship, and scholarships for Confucian students. We hope that all the hopes of Confucian citizens can also be fulfilled just like other religious communities,” he continued.
Also present were the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religion Muhammad Ali Ramdhani, echelon I and II ranks of the Ministry of Religion, special staff of the Minister of Religion, Head of the Center for Confucian Guidance and Education of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Religion Susari, and the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Confucian High Council (Matakin) Budi S Tanuwibowo.
