Islamic Banking Students of IAIN Ternate Hold Islamic Banking Festival Event Again

TERNATE – The Islamic Banking Study Program Student Association (HMPS-PBS) of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ternate, North Maluku, is again holding the Islamic Banking Festival (IBF) event.
The third IBF event in 2024 will take place at the Oranje Ternate fort for two days, namely November 23-24, 2024, carrying the theme of the existence of the younger generation to build a creative economy within the framework of Islamic economics.
The implementation of the 2024 IBF Event is slightly different from the 2023 IBF, because only one series of competition activities is carried out by the committee, namely a poetry competition involving high school/vocational school and MA students throughout the city of Ternate. Even so, there are two core activities that are the focus of the committee, namely talk shows and international webinars.
The coordinator of the BPS FEBI IAIN Ternate study program, Dr. Zainal Abidin Marasabessy, S.E., M.Sc when opening the activity said, the IBF activity held by the HMPS Sharia Banking has become an annual agenda. So, it is still held every year, only the format is different.
The IBF 2024 event, he continued, is seen as a form of real contribution in growing the community's economy with Islamic economic principles.
"In the implementation of the first IBF in 2022, it was only combined with a talk show with a number of competitions, and the second IBF, the level has been raised, because there is a national webinar, while the third IBF in 2024, one of the series of activities that attracted attention, namely the international webinar," he explained, Saturday (11/23/2024) evening.
"During the webinar, a professor from Al Azhar University Cairo, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Dasuki Kasbah, and a member of the DPD RI from North Maluku, Hasby Yusuf, and one of the PBS students also presented a scientific paper," he continued.
He added that the IBF activity held by PBS students also brought various positive impacts, because in addition to the competition and talk show activities and international webinars, throughout the IBF activity, the committee also involved a number of MSMEs in the city of Ternate to display their products at the activity location.
"So, this activity (IBF, ed) in addition to aiming to hone the potential and develop student creativity, also provides benefits to MSMEs," he said.
In addition, he said, the IBF activity also contributed to the development of study programs and faculties, because international webinar activities were considered to boost the accreditation value of study programs.
"As the study program coordinator, I continue to support the activities that students carry out, both on campus and off campus," he said.
Likewise, the general chairman of HMPS PBS Sabrian Yusri said that the IBF event, apart from being a place to promote products produced by students and MSMEs to the public, he said, was also considered appropriate for socializing the Islamic banking study program to the people of Ternate City.
"The IBF event is a real manifestation of the role of students in developing creativity and innovation," he said.
The IBF event, he continued, is also a moment to share knowledge to understand the important role of Islamic banking in building a sustainable Islamic economy.
"As in international webinars and talk shows, PBS students gain so much knowledge," he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the organizing committee for the 2024 IBF event, Zulfikar K Ekoran, said that in implementing the 2024 IBF event, the committee invited a number of MSMEs in Ternate City, as well as certain parties as sponsors of the activity.
"Those who sponsored our activities include Telkomsel Ternate City, Oppo Ternate City, Megaponsel, GenBI North Maluku, PDAM Ternate City, UMKM, Nuta Gift and Florist, while the booth fillers were KSR PMI Unit 02 IAIN Ternate, Kedai 10 Se Nonguru, Rizkiyah," he said.
