TERNATE -- The Student Association of the Islamic Banking Study Program (HMPS) of the Islamic Banking Study Program (PBS) of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) IAIN Ternate, North Maluku, held an inauguration and working meeting for the management for the 2025-2026 period.
The activity entitled synergizing in building a competitive literacy spirit for the progress of the organization, took place on Thursday (24/4/2025) afternoon in the FEBI IAIN Ternate auditorium.
The Chairperson of the HMPS PBS for the 2025-2026 period, Agus S Selang, in his remarks expressed his gratitude to the management of the HMPS PBS for the 2024-2025 period who had helped make the inauguration of the new management of the HMPS PBS FEBI IAIN Ternate for the 2025-2026 period a success.
"We would like to thank our seniors, in this case the PBS HMPS management for the 2025-2026 period who have helped us," he said.
He explained that his party decided to carry the theme of the activity related to building a literacy spirit, because literacy is the key to knowledge in the world of education, as well as valuable provisions for the future of every individual.
So he said, the theme that was carried was not just a theme for the inauguration and work meeting activities, but would be implemented in every HMPS PBS activity for the 2025-2026 period.
"We took this theme from the development of today's literacy world, because basically, literacy is not just a technical skill, but also an important foundation in personal development and social progress," he explained.
"For that, never get tired of reading, and always appear in every activity, so that you continue to learn in order to achieve the ideals that we hope for," he continued.
Meanwhile, representing the outgoing HMPS PBS management, Yuni Jurnalistia Kenau congratulated the inauguration of the HMPS PBS management for the 2025-2026 period.
She hopes that this management can carry out work programs well, so that it brings various positive impacts to study programs and faculties.
"Hopefully the new HMPS management will perform much better than our period, in principle we continue to support and support every activity carried out by this new management," he said.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of the Islamic banking study program, Dr. Zaenal Abidin Marasabessy, S.E., M.Sc when opening the inauguration and work meeting, said that the theme carried by HMPS at the inauguration must be truly implemented, in order to encourage students in the PBS study program to further promote literacy, both on campus and in the community.
"Not long ago, a PBS student won a scientific essay competition at Khairun University, as well as in 2023, winning a national essay competition. So, from this championship at least it is a motivation for PBS children to continue to increase their enthusiasm for literacy," he said.
He also expects the HMPS management for the 2025-2026 period to focus on international activities, such as webinars and seminars.
"International webinars have become a routine agenda for HMPS PBS every year, so HMPS PBS for the 2025-2026 period must again target carrying out the same activities in 2025," he said, ending. (*)
