After Regular KKN Participants and Religious Moderation Collaboration, the Chancellor of IAIN Ternate Reminds to Maintain the Good Name of the Campus
TERNATE – Chancellor of IAIN Ternate, North Maluku, Prof Dr Radjiman Ismail, M.Pd on Tuesday (30/7/2024) afternoon, officially released 513 students to take part in real work lecture activities (KKN) in 2024.
The send-off ceremony took place in the IAIN Ternate auditorium, and was attended by all leadership elements at IAIN Ternate, educational staff and KKN supervisors.
The procession of sending off KKN participants was coupled with the signing of an MoU between the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) IAIN Ternate, and 5 PTKINs: State Islamic University (UIN) Makassar, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN Satu Tulungagung, UIN Malang and IAIN Kediri.
Students who take part in KKN are not only from IAIN Ternate, but are also attended by students at five state Islamic religious universities (PTKIN) which collaborate with IAIN Ternate, namely UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN Satu Tulungagung, UIN Malang, UIN Makassar and IAIN Kediri .
They will later be placed in three regions, including the city of Ternate, East Halmahera and North Halmahera districts. Students placed in Ternate are divided into 3 sub-districts, namely North Ternate, Central and Ternate Island sub-districts.
Meanwhile, for East Halmahera district, KKN students are placed in 22 locations (villages) spread across 4 sub-districts, while in North Halmahera district, the KKN committee places students in 12 villages in 3 sub-districts.
The Chancellor of IAIN Ternate, Prof Radjiman Ismail, said that KKN is part of lectures, so students who take part in KKN activities do not just come and carry out activity programs, but must learn directly from the community.
"Lectures don't only take place on campus, but can take place anywhere and at any time, including the KKN that we do," he said.
For this reason, he assessed that during the briefing activities on campus, students were provided with knowledge and experience by the resource persons, at least as capital for students while participating in KKN activities in villages or sub-districts.
Apart from that, he emphasized that students from PTKIN have different characteristics from general campuses, so that while they are at the KKN location, students are required to maintain the good name of their alma mater.
Furthermore, he also hopes that students must uphold the customs and traditions that exist in society, so that the implementation of KKN can run smoothly without obstacles.
"Like students from Java who collaborate with IAIN Ternate who are placed in East Halmahera district, if you are there (Haltim, ed) in daily communication you have to adapt to the conditions, so don't use the words [loe] and [gue] all the time, but "You must be smart in adapting in using approaches and communication like those of the local community," he said
"So, you have to show your identity as a student from PTKIN, and maintain the good name of the campus," he concluded
For your information, KKN participants who are placed in the districts of North Halmahera and East Halmahera this Wednesday (31/7) morning, will be sent to the location via the Bastiong crossing port, South Ternate, as well as students who are placed in the city of Ternate will be taken directly by the his supervisor. They will take part in KKN activities for 45 days. (*)
