Commemorating National Santri Day 2024, Chancellor of IAIN Ternate Says Santri Day Belongs to All Elements of the Nation
TERNATE – Chancellor of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ternate, North Maluku, Prof Dr Radjiman Ismail, M.Pd led the implementation of the rally to commemorate the 10th National Santri Day (HSN) in 2024.
The National Santri Day rally, which was attended by the entire academic community, was centered on the main field of the IAIN Ternate campus, Saturday (17/8/2024) morning and was solemn and successful.
In commemoration of National Santri Day in 2024, the Indonesian Ministry of Religion carries the theme, continuing the struggle to embrace the future.
In his message, the Chancellor of IAIN Ternate, Prof. Radjiman Ismail, read the remarks of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. who have fought tirelessly for the independence and integrity of the nation.
"Continuing the struggle does not mean just remembering, but also acting with the same spirit in facing modern-day challenges," he said
Santri Day, he continued, is a momentum for all people to remember and emulate the santri who have fought for and defended Indonesia's independence.
"History has recorded that the Islamic boarding school students were one of the groups most active in waging resistance against the invaders," he explained.
He explained that evidence of the students' resistance to the invaders was remembered as the jihad resolution event, on October 22 1945 which was announced by Hadratush Sheikh Kiai Haji Hasyim Asyari.
"Fighting to reject and fight the invaders is fardlu 'ain," said Radjiman, imitating the fatwa on Hadratus Sheikh Kiai Haji Hasyim Asyari's jihad resolution.
He explained that students who lived in the colonial era, apart from paying attention to gaining knowledge, on the other hand also took up arms to fight against the invaders.
"Currently, students' main task is to fight against ignorance and setbacks by taking up the pen," he explained
In this way, he continued, the students can be said to have inherited noble values for the nation, and are responsible for and contributing to building a better future for society.
For this reason, he hopes that National Santri Day in 2024 will be used as a momentum to strengthen the commitment of the Indonesian people, especially santri students, in embracing the future and realizing the nation's ideals.
“Students must be confident, because students can be anything. "A santri can become president, because history records that we have a president with a santri background, namely K.H Abdurahman Wahid, as well as a santri who also becomes vice president, and we have a vice president with a santri background, namely K.H Ma'ruf Amin," he said.
"Message to the students, embrace the future with enthusiasm and perseverance. "Master science and technology, continue to innovate and contribute to achieving Indonesia's glorious future," continued the former chairman of the GP Ansor North Maluku region.
Radjiman added that santri day does not only belong to santri and Islamic boarding schools, but santri day belongs to all elements of the nation who love the country. So, he asked all components of the nation to take part in celebrating Santri Day.
"Thank you to all elements of the nation who are currently having fun enlivening the 2024 Santri Day commemoration," he said (*)
